Senior members of the Papillion team can carry out an independent evaluation of a non-profit organisation. More and more donors are requesting this – some as a prerequisite for funding. Bringing decades of knowledge of every aspect of NPOs’ management, governance, fundraising, policies, service delivery, financial management and best practice requirements, Jill Ritchie, assisted by Papillon’s specialised staff members, can monitor and assess the various aspects of an NPO’s activities and provide a detailed report highlighting areas of excellence and advising on those requiring addressing.

Each such evaluation is customised and tailor-made, and quotes will be supplied based on the size and scope of such contracts.

It has long been of concern to the Papillon team that external evaluation consultants’ fees are, generally, exorbitant. Therefore, after a number of years of evolving and developing effective, yet inexpensive, methods, tools and instruments for evaluating NPOs as a whole, Jill Ritchie and her team are delighted to be able to offer South African and SADC region NPOs affordable external evaluations.

Although this exercise is designed as a one-off and clients are not locked into lengthy contracts, the option also exists of the team carrying out a smaller follow-up external evaluation exercise a year later to assess changes and improvements.

The value of an impartial external evaluation exercise is to provide stakeholders (external: donors, government, the public and beneficiaries) an objective evaluation of the organisation as well as (internal: staff, volunteers and beneficiaries) constructive, supportive and helpful systems for improvements.
