The issue of maintaining an organisation’s PBO status is explained. Business plans, ethics and start-up capital are covered and income-generating ideas discussed. Market research, costing and marketing are also explained.

The innovative and exciting opportunities of social entrepreneurship are introduced. Many international experts believe social entrepreneurship to be the solution to NPOs’ funding needs. It is believed that, in time, social enterprise will replace much of the reliance many NPOs currently have on traditional fundraising methods, thereby boosting income and creating more robust, dynamic agents of social change.

Business plans are explained as an integral starting place for all income generating ventures. Formats, templates and an example of a business plan are included in the notes provided.
